Postpartum Fitness
Congratulations mama!! You did it!!
Now you’re settling into a new routine with your little one and ready to get moving again.
Whether you had a vaginal or c-section birth, you’re probably noticing some changes. When you’re ready for purposeful movement, a dedicated postpartum routine can support you in reconnecting with your body and feeling like yourself again.

What can I expect during the postpartum period?
After giving birth you may notice some of these changes in your body:
Diastasis recti (abdominal separation)
Pelvic organ prolapse, or a sense of heaviness in your pelvic floor
Urinary or fecal incontinence
Tightness or weakness in your pelvic floor
Poor posture
Aches and pains that weren’t there before
All of these concerns are normal, and the good news is you can usually reverse or significantly improve them with the right program and support.
Am I ready to start exercising again?
You may be eager to start exercising again, or you might be afraid that exercise will make you feel worse. Whatever you feel right now is valid and there’s no rush. When you’re ready we can get you on the road to feeling like yourself again.
The 6-week mark is often when your healthcare provider will clear you to begin exercising. If you’re feeling up for it, this is a great time to get started with an intelligent, measured return to exercise.
And if you’re not feeling up for it, that’s ok too.
You can get started when you’re ready.
What does a postpartum fitness routine look like?
I start my postpartum clients with purposeful breathing, mobility, and core connection exercises.
We’ll work on posture to support your body from the inside out, and progress to intentional strength training so you’re equipped for all the challenges that motherhood throws your way!
It’s been awhile?
That’s ok!
Did you know that there’s no time limit to the “postpartum” period? You’re considered postpartum whether it’s been six weeks, six months, or 6+ years since you gave birth.
If you’re returning to exercise for the first time since baby (even if baby just graduated from high school), you’ll benefit from a tailored postpartum approach.

“I started training with Kaitlyn at the end of my 1st trimester. My goals were to stay fit during pregnancy and prepare my body for childbirth. Kaitlyn adapted my workouts based on how my pregnancy progressed and on my personal needs. I felt very safe having her guide me through this journey as my body continued to change. I felt strong and ready for my baby’s arrival. My body felt great during the whole pregnancy, I was able to workout until the very end.
I ended up getting a c-section because my baby was breech, but I most definitely attribute my very quick recovery to the work I’ve done with Kaitlyn during the months prior. My body bounced back so quickly as I continued training with Kaitlyn as soon as my doctor cleared me which was 6 weeks after birth. I couldn’t feel my abs at first, had no control over my abdominal area. Kaitlyn started me off very gently and in just a few weeks I started feeling like myself again. With Kaitlyn, I felt very safe to build my strength back to pre-baby fitness.
Kaitlyn also shared so many great resources with me throughout my journey and had given me a ton of great information on pelvic floor health and incorporated pelvic floor exercises into my workouts which was very helpful for my pregnancy. Every pregnancy journey is different, you need a personalized approach to your physical health during this time. I honestly struggled to find the experienced trainers with such knowledge in Vancouver, I am very lucky I found Kaitlyn. Whatever your fitness goals may be, I would highly recommend Kaitlyn to anyone.”

“I’ve trained with Kaitlyn through both my pregnancies and postpartum and I can’t say enough great things about her. She has helped me build strength and stamina through all my body’s changes and kept me looking and feeling great.
She is exceptionally knowledgeable and really took time to understand my unique goals. Her extensive prenatal knowledge made me feel really confident and safe training with her. I definitely attribute my easy deliveries and fast recoveries in part to all the work we did together.”
